Do Catholic colleges offer study abroad programs?

Most Catholic colleges do offer study abroad programs. As with many other colleges, Catholic colleges offer a few different types of study abroad programs, varying in length and type.

Catholic colleges may offer study abroad opportunities that last a few weeks or a month, commonly in the summer or winter breaks, or longer. Longer study abroad opportunities are typically around 6-months, taking up a semester's worth of classes. Some catholic colleges may even offer programs that extend to a whole academic year.

Many study abroad trips will be based on major or area of study, such as literature or theology, and the location may have some significance to the subject matter. These trips will be designed to complement that specific major or area of study while offering experiences in a new culture.

Paired with the Catholic emphasis on serving, many study abroad programs offered through Catholic colleges will incorporate some sort of ministry or service opportunities. This allows students to practice ways to positively serve and impact a community and broaden their cultural empathy in observing global issues from a different perspective.
