How do Catholic colleges approach social issues and ethics?

The specific approach or response to social issues will depend entirely on the individual Catholic college. That said, Catholic colleges do place a large emphasis on the wellbeing and uniqueness of each individual. Part of the Catholic faith is a deep belief that every life is sacred, and each person's dignity should be preserved.

Catholics also believe that the institution's job is to protect the sacredness and dignity of a human life. They also believe in solidarity in that we are all brothers and sisters, and each other's keepers. Thus, we have a responsibility to love one another and take care of each other to the best of our ability.

How this takes shape at a Catholic college in response to social issues or specific ethics can and will vary depending on the school. Some colleges will have a much more conservative response, while others are much more liberal. The best way to know where the school you are interested in lands in that regard is to talk to admissions, look through student events, and, if possible, talk to current students to see how they interpret the culture.
