Are there family discounts if multiple siblings attend the same Catholic college?

Family discounts, or other personalized discounts, are offered by some Catholic colleges. Sibling discounts are a common form of “family discount” that many families with multiple siblings should be aware of and ask colleges about.

Sibling discounts (sometimes called family discounts) award families a percentage discount if a family has more than one child attending the same college. These discounts are given by the college if they offer this sort of discount. Typically, this can be around 5-15%, and each college will have their own requirements or qualifications for who can and cannot receive the discount. Usually for a family to receive this discount, both children have to be attending the college at the same time.

Another example of a “family discount” could be a Legacy Discount. Legacy discounts are similar to sibling discounts, but not as restrictive. The amount of the discount is usually about the same (5-15%), but this discount can be applied to someone who had a family member attend the same college before them. The family member could be an aunt, uncle, grandparent, or so on (the exact terms are set by each individual college, some may be more specified about how closely related the family member must be). These scholarships are intended to build loyalty between families and colleges, rewarding families for their continued trust in the college's education. As with the sibling discount, the college is the one who offers this discount, and each one will have their own rules and regulations regarding it.

Many Catholic colleges do offer some sort of family discount; however, it may not be widely marketed. Students/families who may be eligible for these discounts (or who even think they could be) should ask the financial aid office of the college(s) they are interested in what sort of sibling/Legacy discounts they offer.
